Book Review: Lady in Waiting
By: Susan Meissner
This is a book about two Janes. Modern day Jane dealing with her husband telling her he needed space and time to think and walking out the door, and long ago Lady Jane Grey a young lady in the sixteenth century dealing with the constant control by the people around her as they use her for their own political and monetary gains. These two women are intertwined in this story, by a ring modern day Jane finds, with a Latin inscription and the name Jane engraved on the inside.
I loved, loved, loved this book. I have never read a story that intertwined a historical fiction with a contemporary fiction. I felt both characters pain and rejoiced with them finding themselves and their inner strength to do what needed to be done. It was neat to see how two characters from very different time periods could relate to each other so very much. This book is a great read and full of heartbreak, love, happiness and choices. I hated to put it down to deal with real life. This would make a great read for a snow day, curled up on the couch with a cup of hot chocolate!! I give it 5 out of 5 stars!!
