A Review - PakNak

I was recently given an opportunity to review a very neat little product called a paknak.

About the product from their website:
PakNaks are fun soft rubbery 3-D decorations for kids (and adults too!) to personalize all of their stuff. Backpacks, lunchbags, headbands, computer bags, household items, the list is only limited by your imagination.

What we thought
We were sent two nak to test out - Claire, a cute little cat and Robert a sweet little robot.
When they first arrived I stuck Claire right onto the front of Baby Bugs Diaper bag.

It adds a cute little touch to her bag.  I was not sure how well it would stay on since we take this bag everywhere and it is constantly being thrown around.  Well we put it to the test this last week.  I have not had any problems with it falling off.  I love it for cuteness sake!!
Tonight we switched out Claire for Robert. It was an easy switch that gave the bag a whole new look.  When you switch them you can keep on the Velcro from the first nak and just place the new nak right on top.  These sell for just $3.99 a piece.  It is neat to be able to change the look of something so easily and for a decent price.  Children's preferences change very quickly it is nice to be able to change just as easily with them it may be cats one week and cupcakes the next.

Also I love the fact these are so durable I don't have to worry about little hands messing them up.
Bottom Line - These are quality, cute little trinkets.  I think they would make great gifts and bring a smile to any child's face without breaking the bank.
Where to buy them:
You can buy your own Pak Nak's Here

Disclaimer:  I did receive these products for review.  I was not monetarily compensated.  All opinions in this post are my own and not influenced by the company.

Six Word Saturday

Remembering what is important in life!

Five tips to an economical Birthday Party

Babybug just turned one a few week ago.  I wanted to share a few tips on making a fun but expensive party I learned in the planning stages with you.

1. Make your own cake - You can find those boxed mixes for less then a dollar and canned icing is fairly cheap as well.  Use a little food coloring to turn white icing into any color you want.  We used a dollar tiara as our decoration.
2. The dollar store is your friend - We bought a lot of our decorations and paper goods at the Dollar Tree you cannot beat $1.  We also bought table clothes there I think this really helped add a festive feel to have the colorful table clothes on all the tables.
3. Make you own decorations.  I used the cricut to make decorations for the mantle and highchair.  These turned out really cute.

4.  Reuse- I had alot of decorations from other events that I reused this saved us alot of cost too.  I put aside decorations from this birthday bash to use next year as well.

5. Don't forget about holiday clearance.  If you can think ahead about your theme and such you can often shop that 75% off clearance after holidays to find favors for the party.  BabyBug wore a pink tutu outfit that I bought on sale after halloween it was suppose to be a ballerina costume.  She looked darling in it.

Helping Hands Linky 3

It is time for us to share a bit of love and help each other out!!
The helping hands linky
This is a linky of helping each other.  You put in a request of something you want done such as someone entering your giveaway, following your on twitter, facebook, or some other blogging need.  Then you full fill the requests of the three people before you on the linky.  This way we can all reach out and help each other.  When starting a new linky I will add the last three requests off of the old linky so those requests can still be met.  Please do not add your request to the linky unless you plan to meet the needs of the three people in front of you.  Also I know at times you may not be able to meet their requests such as when it is a giveaway entry and you have alerady entered please find some other little way to help them out!
I used to participate in a linky similar to this one over at Ten Talents she used to run a linky called This for That which had the same type of theme of helping each other.
Here are some sample entries:
* Please follow me on twitter - (Linked to your twitter account)
*Please enter my giveaway (linked to the giveaway)
*please follow me on facebook ( linked to facebook fan page)
Etc. Etc. Etc.

Recap:

List your need in the linky and fullfill the needs of the three people above you in the linky
Do not list more then one need in a row as you would be one of the three people under you who would be there to fullfill your request.  But after three more people have put in requests it would be fine to add another request.

* Please Note only list one thing at a time so that there will be people under you to help you and so that the people above you can have three different people to try and help them out.

Facebook Fan Page

I finally have a facebook fan page feel free to come stop by and like it here.

Oliver's Labels - Review

I was recently given a chance to review Oliver's Labels.  These are some very cute labels to label all of your children's things.
Labels are a must for young children.  How often have you been at day care or the church nursery and realized your child has a sippy identical to another child.  Labels make it easy to see which things belong to your child.
Oliver's Labels has many many design choices to choose from.  We choose the animal faces.  These little labels are so cute with the little animal peering at you.

My big questions with labels is always will they hold up?  Kids are so rough on things.  So far these have help up very well for me.  I put several on Baby bug's Sippy cups and snack containers and have washed them in the dishwasher multiple times.  The labels are still on and look just as nice as they did when I stuck them on.  I really like these labels and think they are good quality.
Oliver's Labels offers several types of labels including an orginal size that is about the size of an address label, a mini size which is perfect for smaller items, shoe labels, clothing labels and even bag tags.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commissions 16 CFR, Part 255 Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising. A little bit of everthing

Took Babybug to get some one year pictures.  We always use JCpenny's portrait studio  I print off a coupon each time for a package that includes several sizes of the same pose for only 7.99 it is a good deal, but takes a lot of will power when looking through all the shots to only buy the one.  The nice thing is when the pictures come in they always send a few extras that you can buy at a reduced price this is where we always get our extra poses.  Today's shoot was one of the best!! It was so hard to choose just one but I did and cannot wait to get them back next week.

I found a neat article to help you with promoting your giveaways over at Sweeptight check it out here

Also have you checked out my new linky yet?  Helping Hand is a linky with a neat spin on it check it out.

Have you entered my latest giveaway yet?  It has really low entries right now, be sure to click here and get your entries in!

Give it away - giveaway linky

Let's see your giveaways for the week!!!

Ocean Nasal products - Review and giveaway

I was sent three products for review from Ocean Saline Nasal Care - Ocean complete sinus irrigation, Ocean Premium saline Nasal Spray, and Ocean for kids
This time of year with dry, cold air nasal care is a must.

The Facts:
Ocean Premium saline Nasal Spray:  Since 1973 it has earned the trust of health professionals and millions of people suffering from chronic nasal congestion, sinus congestion, dry nose, and irritated nasal passages resulting from allergies, sinusitis, sinus infections, colds, rhinitis, nasal surgery and more.
OCEAN Complete® Sinus Irrigation provides a convenient and easy to use two-in-one nasal saline therapy: a special nozzle for nasal sinus irrigation and a unique saline mist applicator for nasal moisturizing.  Utilizing an exclusive non-medicated salt blend formula, the OCEAN brand nasal sinus irrigation system is safe for frequent daily use.
OCEAN for Kids® Saline Nasal Spray provides instant, soothing relief to irritated nasal passages.   The natural, non-medicated OCEAN® Nasal for Kids product has a smaller spray tip to fit smaller noses and contains glycerin for extra moisturizing, which results in less stinging and burning.  Moreover, it is safe to use as often as needed, because it is drug free.

The Review:
The first product I used was the ocean for kids.  Baby bug woke up in the middle of the night one night very congested and stuffy.  She did not aprpeciate me using the ocean for kids spray in her nose, but her breathing was so much better afterwards it cleared her nose quickly and most importantly that one use was enough to get her through the rest of the night.  I was impressed with how well the product works.
I admittedly am not much more of a fan then Sarah of using nasal sprays but one morning I woke up with very dry nasal passages.  I knew it was the perfect morning to test out the mist nozzle on the sinus irrigation tube.  I surrived the process and quickly realized my nose felt much better I did not even realize how dry my nose was.
Note I have not had an opportunity to test the Ocean Premium nasal spray as of yet, but if it works as well as the other two products then I am sure it is a winner as well.

To buy:
You can use ocean's website store locations tab to find out where to purchase your ocean products
Oh and be sure to check out this spot on their site where you can register for a $3.00 off coupon

Thrifty Tip of the day:

When baking a cake if you are out of oil you can replace the oil with applesauce.  I do this even when I have oil it makes the cake a little healthier as well as keeping the cake moister longer.

Saturday Snow

I woke up this morning to white stuff!!  It is not a ton of snow, but enough to make the ground white.  I always like that warm cozy feeling that staying inside on a snowy day brings.  The snow makes me thankful for the warm house and the other blessings in my life.

Book Review- Lady in Waiting by Susan Meissner

Book Review: Lady in Waiting
By: Susan Meissner
This is a book about two Janes.  Modern day Jane dealing with her husband telling her he needed space and time to think and walking out the door, and long ago Lady Jane Grey a young lady in the sixteenth century dealing with the constant control by the people around her as they use her for their own political and monetary gains.  These two women are intertwined in this story, by a ring modern day Jane finds, with a Latin inscription and the name Jane engraved on the inside.
I loved, loved, loved this book.  I have never read a story that intertwined a historical fiction with a contemporary fiction.  I felt both characters pain and rejoiced with them finding themselves and their inner strength to do what needed to be done.  It was neat to see how two characters from very different time periods could relate to each other so very much.  This book is a great read and full of heartbreak, love, happiness and choices.  I hated to put it down to deal with real life.  This would make a great read for a snow day, curled up on the couch with a cup of hot chocolate!! I give it 5 out of 5 stars!!
This book was provided free to me through blogging for books in exchange for my honest review.  This review is my opinion and is not at all influenced by the company.

Book Review - Lies The Government Told You by Judge Andrew P. Napolitano

Review - Lies the Government Told You
Written by: Judge Andrew P. Napolitano
I think the title of this book says it all.  This is a book that goes into details on some of the lies we have heard from the government.  The book is 316 pages long and covers 17 lies from the government.  starting with the lie "All men are created equal" and ending with the lie "America has a free Market"  I like a line on the back of the book that says: "When the truth is traded for lies, our freedoms are diminished and don't return."

This book is a far cry from my usual sappy fiction book, but it is a book I think all Americans should get their hands on.  I like the lay out of this book and how Judge Napolitano covers each of the lies.    This book is very eye opening to the way things have been done and the way our rights and freedoms have been stepped on by the government.  I like one header in the book that says "you cann't make this stuff up"  It is amazing to me some of the things government has gotten away with.  Over all I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars.

I was provided a copy of this book from Thomas Nelson through Book Sneeze for review purposes, the opinions in this review are my opinions and have not been influenced by the company.

In this program you write advertisements that run on your twitter account and get paid a little for it.  The more followers you have the moer you can make.  So far I have not made a ton from this but I have made a little and I see that the money I make this year will be great help for Christmas next year.

2. SwagBucks this one rewards you for doing internet searches.   Once you have earned some swagbucks you can trade them in for prizes.  I have earned amazon giftcards with them - see this post on the product I picked out.

What Programs do you participate in?  I would love to hear about them and how they worked for you.
