Book Review- Dating, Dining, and Desperation

My Thoughts: I enjoyed this book! Daphne and her adventures are so down to Earth.  Daphne's current home and situation is comical and homey at the same time.  Her new neighbor keeps her on her toes.  Good book I cannot wait for a chance to read the next one in the series. 

Book Review- once Upon a Winter Heart

Book Review: Gabriel's Bride

I live in Tulsa, though I was born in Mississippi. I moved to the Sooner State when I was seventeen and met my soul mate and best friend not long after. I’ve retained a little of my Mississippi accent though most people think I’m from Texas. (?) Rob and I have been married for over twenty years and have a son–a mom proclaimed prodigy, of course!

I love homemade tacos, shoes, and romance novels–not necessarily in that order. I’m a big fan of country music, a staunch proponent of saving the Oxford comma, and I’m shamefully obsessed with all things Harry Potter.

I believe that God is love. I guess that’s why I adore romances.

I have always been intrigued with the Amish culture, their gentle ways and slower-paced lifestyle. (And I love, love, love the fact that they stay married for their lifetime.) But until recently I never thought to blend this interest with my penchant for romance. Okay, okay, I’m a bit old-fashioned and even enjoy the gender roles that are present in this culture. I love to cook and take care of my family. Yes, that’s me June Cleaver with a laptop.

I dislike people trying to convince me to read the Twilight series (I’ll get to it or I won’t, either way I’m good with it), gratuitous violence, and strawberry ice cream. (I know I’m alone on this last one, and again, I’m good with it.)

Favorite movies–(besides HP) French Kiss, Maid of Honor, A Lot Like Love, Just Married, and Sweet Home Alabama. Oh, and Miss Congeniality, Sabrina (both versions) and a 1940′s movie called Dear Ruth. If you haven’t seen it, you should! A-dorable. Anything with Doris Day and most all of Marilyn’s and Audrey’s.

My Thoughts:
 I have read and reviewed Katie's Choice  by the same author and loved it!  Gabriel's Bride is no different.  It is a book worth reading.  To be honest I am not quite finished with it and I cannot wait to see how it will end.  Rachel is such a fun character.  I love her spunk and her awkward ways.  Gabriel is a good guy and you just cannot help but want for these to characters to settle down and find happiness.  I highly recomend this book.  I could stay and tell you more about this one, but I am going to go read instead!!  I can't wait to see how the story ends. 

Book Review- For the Love of Pete

My Thoughts: 
At first I was a little unsure of this one.  I could not decide if I   liked the characters and their garden club adventures or if I was bored by the everyday humdrum of the story line.  After while though I realized I was enjoying the story.  It went a relaxing pace and was an easy read.  The characters soon became endearing and I found myself looking forward to picking the book up again.  It was not one of those books full of mystery and suspense that you just cannot put down, it was more a sweet homey book.  It took me a while to get into this one, but I did enjoy it after I got going with it. 

Book Review- Songs of Shenandoah

Book Review- Tempest's Course

My Thoughts:  I really enjoyed this book.  The author did a good job of making the characters come to life.  Their struggles and hardships are really well written and made them seem down to Earth.  This is a great read.  

Book Review- Merry Humbug Christmas

My Thoughts: This was a fun read.  I especially enjoyed reading about Joss and Patrick's escapades.  I like that this book was an easy read, not one that took deep concentration.  I give it 4 out of 5 stars!  Good Christmas read.

My Thoughts:  This was a good read.  Full of mystery and tension between the main characters.  Defiantly a page turner as you wait to see how it will all turn out!

Book Review- Paige Rewritten

My Thoughts:  Oh Mrs. Erynn Mangum!  Why, oh why, oh why do you leave me hanging!!  I reviewed the first book in this series Paige Torn back in June and loved it!  My only complaint back then was the fact it left me with a cliffhanger.  I was so excited to get this book and continue on with the story of Paige!!  I was not disappointed with the story.  I love the way Ms. Mangum brings Paige to life.  She feels so real.  It is easy to understand her to feel connected to her.  My only complaint is the fact that this story left me needing to see how it all ends.  It will be a long wait until this spring to see the next chapter in Paige Alder's life!   

Book Review- Traces of Mercy

My Thoughts: 
I enjoyed this book.  I fell in love with Mercy and wanted peace for her character from the start.  There were a few event choices that I did not feel where real natural.  Some of the things had me going with Mercy really do that or why wouldn't she do this. I won't go into detail because they would give away a lot of the story line, but even with that I thought this was a great book.  It was an adventurous story.  My biggest complaint is that it ended unfinished I hate having to wait for the next book in a series!

The Christmas Quilt

I hold a BA and MA degree in English, and I am proud to be represented by Mary Sue Seymour, AAR. I have published over one hundred articles in Christian family magazines, and have received over two dozen awards from Romance Writers of America chapter groups. I am honored to be a member of Romance Writers of America, American Christian Fiction Writers, and Faith Hope and Love.

I live and teach in the Texas hill country with my husband, cats, and a rather large herd of deer. Our four children have flown the nest; however, we are fortunate that they all live close enough to visit.

I have always felt that my faith was at the very center of who and what I am, and I am thrilled beyond words to be able to now write about something that is so near to my heart. At various times I have served as a pianist, teacher, church secretary, and worship team member. While living in the Dallas area, I served as an adjunct professor of English Literature at Dallas Baptist University. When we moved to a small town in Central Texas, I continued teaching for a few years, but I now write full-time and I play the keyboard in our church’s praise band.

My grandfather was born in Albion, Pennsylvania, and I am currently researching whether I might have Amish roots.

My Thoughts: I really enjoy the books I have read that center around a simpler lifestyle, this one is no exception.  A great cozy winter read for sure!! 

Book Review- A Bride for Keeps

I am a stay at home mother on a tiny little farm with a fixer-upper house. As much as I love writing and reading about homesteaders, I am so glad I’m a homesteader during an era with modern grocery stores to take up for my slack. I am an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher by trade, and I still work occasionally in that field along with being my church’s financial secretary and writing novels.

My husband and I have been married since 2001 and have a daughter and two little boys. My husband shares my fascination with traditional living except for being more hands on. He loves blacksmithing, knife smithing, traditional archery, hunting, etc. Generally whatever a mountain man does, he does it or has or wants to attempt it. He comes in handy for research! And of course, the rest of the family gets involved. I have my own blackpowder rifle, named Calvin, that my husband made for me. And I’m pretty sure my daughter is probably one of very few her age who can instruct adults how to shoot a longbow properly. The boy digs random holes in my yard to make “cement” with dirt and water making our yard a tripping hazard. The baby does what babies do.

My Thoughts: I fell in love with Julia and Everett right off the bat in this book.  You just could not help but be rooting for Everett.  I thought the author did a great job of making these characters feel real.  It was really easy to jump into this book.
